At the Feeder

One of the first things we did at the new house was to install a bird feeder on the deck railing near our back door. It can be seen from the door and also the window over our kitchen sink. It has become such a busy place that we need to fill it every two or three days. But it's worth it just to see the variety of visitors that frequent it. It also keeps our indoor cat very occupied.

Many species fly south for the winter but some, like this Downy Woodpecker and Blue Jay, stick it out through the harsh winter...

"Yes, I know I don't have wings... so what? Oh, and you need more peanuts and less seeds in here!"
